LINC 2005 Symposium

3rd Annual International
MIT LINC Symposium

Impacting Social and Economic
Development Through E-Learning

sponsored in part by

October 27 & 28, 2005
MIT Campus
Cambridge, Massachusetts, US

The Program
Our goal is to develop a two-day conference that presents innovative ideas and strategies for professionals working in the field of distance education and e-learning in emerging nations. This year's LINC Symposium will focus on the impact of virtual education on global economic development, especially through group learning, regional collaborations, and across international borders. In addition to MIT speakers, we hope to have substantial presentations from educational leaders from Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia and East Asia. You will leave the program with insights into current best practices of educational technology, and ideas on how to create and sustain learning communities across pedagogical, technological, economical and social borders.

The program fosters an environment for scholars, researchers, funders, and entrepreneurs to collaborate across all types of regions: local, regional, national and international. Several tentatively scheduled progam sessions include:

  • updates on country-specific and regional virtual universities
  • distance learning to alleviate poverty and support social development
  • MIT OpenCourseWare in use around the world
  • university research affecting distance learning
  • reports from e-learning evaluators
  • foundation and ngo interest in distance learning
